Mayabeque, Cuba: The infield player and pitcher Marcelo Ruiz Caballero is the only athlete of San José de las Lajas in the team that will represent Mayabeque in the Western Baseball Championship, category 11-12 years.

Ruiz Caballero, who plays in several positions and hits solidly to the left and right, won the ticket after his results in the Provincial Series and later in the preparatory training gathering.

In the group of 16 children directed by Jacinto Capote, there are four athletes from the municipality of Güines, Luis Valdés, Yaidiel Ruíz, Alexander Fraga and Sergian Pérez, followed by Quivicán and Nueva Paz with three each.  

Quivicán is represented by Alejandro Betancourt, Yulian Hernández and César Gutiérrez and José Franco, Marco Arencibia and Alejandro Hernández are from Nueva Paz.

For his part, Batabanó included Osviel Fernández and Eric Matos. Alberto Noriega from Melena del Sur, Daniel Dorvigní from Madruga and Rudisney Pérez, from Santa Cruz del Norte are also members of the team.

The neopacino Rafael Ramírez and the madruguense Moisés Soto will accompany Jacinto Capote in the management team.

The event will be held in Artemisa from the 15th to the 21st of this month and will give three tickets to the final in Cuba, to be held in Granma from May 5 to 11.

Pinar del Río, Havana, Isla de la Juventud, Matanzas, Cienfuegos and Villa Clara will participate also in the competition.
