Mayabeque, Cuba: On a morning full of symbolism and as part of the activities of the Day for the victory of Playa Girón on April 19, 1961, the residents of Madruga celebrated the first place in the emulative provincial movement Growing Together (Creciendo Juntos), in the first moment of the second stage.

The recognition was delivered during a cultural political act at La Palmita, in presence of the main political and government authorities in Mayabeque.

The member of the Provincial Party Bureau, Pedro Franco Caballero, spoke about the reasons for this recognition given to this territory. "Madruga fulfills its mercantile production, stays in surplus, it is close to reaching the sugar plan. It exhibits superior indicators in agriculture, in the promotion of housing policies and the production of construction materials, as well as in the satisfaction and quality of services to the people ".

Awards were given to the companies and entities of Mayabeque, among them the Agrarian University "Fructuoso Rodríguez", the Roneras Companies of San José de las Lajas and Santa Cruz del Norte, the Direction of the CITMA, of Pharmacies and Optics and the Base Business Unit of Commerce and Gastronomy of Madruga.

It is the second time that the city wins the first place in the emulative period of the Popular Movement Growing Together (Movimiento popular Creciendo Juntos), an initiative that invites the economic and social transformation of the municipalities and progress in general face the tenth anniversary of Mayabeque in 2021.

From La Palmita, the historic site where the Caravan of Freedom led by Fidel arrived in the province on January 8, 1959, the Mayabequenses were summoned to participate with mass and revolutionary joy in the parades on May Day in the 11th municipalities as an expression of unity, fidelity and support for the Socialist Revolution
