More than 50 thousand workers grouped in 15 unions together with their family, combatants of the Cuban Revolution and young people will parade through the 4th street of San José de las Lajas this May 1st, according to the member of the Provincial Bureau Elizabeth Gil Núñez, at a press conference held at the headquarters of the Cuban Workers’ Federation in Mayabeque.

The leader explained that they plan to begin the commemoration with the workers of the Public Health Union, for the altruism shown in the collaborations with other countries, the quality of the hospital care in the territory, as well as the indicators of medical efficiency, today superior to the same stage of the previous calendar.

Gil Núñez added that the proletarian party continues with a representation of trade unionists from the Energy and Mines, Communications, Commerce, Gastronomy and Services sectors. They will be followed by those of the entities belonging to the Food and Fishing Companies, Civil Defense and Hotels and Tourism.

The workers of Industries, Education, Science and Sport, Culture, Public Administration, the Union of Transport and Ports, Agricultural, Forestry and Tobacco, Construction will also participate. The National Association of Small Farmers and the sugar producers will close the parade.

The general secretary of the Public Health Union, Odalis Marrero Hernández, said that on May 1, the working people will show their commitment to the Homeland. One hundred registered nurses along with the internationalists will carry the slogans that symbolize the unity commitment and victory of the Mayabequenses.

Prior to the celebration, tours of centers of economic and social interest are held in the province, exchanges with delegates to the XXI Workers' Congress, productive work in agriculture, cultural, sports and recreational events and recognize the most prominent workers in their workplace .
