Mayabeque, Cuba _ Several actions are carried out in the Base Business Unit (UEB) poultry farm Rosario, in Melena del Sur, to ensure the safety of animals.
According to Luis RÃos Medina, veterinarian of the entity, the fumigation of the farms and the placement of fences to avoid the transmission of diseases are among the measures taken.
Other alternatives are the anti-birds nets to prevent the introduction of avian fever, the vaccination of young crias, as well as the cleaning and change of clothes of the staff with access to the area.
RÃos Medina added that they fulfilled the plans of mortality, viability and consumption of the first quarter of the year.
The UEA poultry of Melena del Sur hosts pure-line turkeys from birth up to 140 days of age for classification. The first ones are destined to the breeding farm and those disqualified for the social consumption.
