Mayabeque, Cuba__ The municipality of San Jose de las Lajas will prepare 58 hectares of land for the reforestation of Mayabeque’s capital, during May, Radio Camoa publishes.

Yadisley García González, a forestry specialist in the area, explained that at the end of this phase, in June, it will begin the planting of ten thousand species of timber species such as ocuje, Honduran and African mahogany, cedar, teak, majagua, paradise and fruit trees like mango , mamey, cherimoya, anon and cashew.

Of the total hectares to be planted this year, some of them will be for water and soil protectors, wood producers and for recreational purposes (parks).

San José de las Lajas is one of the areas with the greatest potential in forestry, representing 18 percent of the forest area of the province.
