Mayabeque, Cuba_ The National Group of Urban Agriculture is visiting since today and tomorrow May 9 some localities of San Jose de las Lajas, with the purpose of evaluating the development of the program in the capital of Mayabeque, Radio Camoa publishes.

In its 77 tour, the delegation will visit farms of suburban agriculture, organic matter and vermiculture, as well as the experimental El Progreso, in San Antonio de Las Vegas Popular Council, with one hectare of passion fruit, pear, cinnamon and laurel; the fruit cooperatives, especially those of coffee, as well as the seeds of agave, botany, medicinal plants and animal food.

These two days include inspection of intensive orchards and condiments, semiprotected, organoponics, centers of organic matter, the 43 development tasks that will be presented by the municipality, the points of sale, the jugueras and the two minindustrías located in San Antonio Popular Council Las Vegas and 40th Street.

This group will also check the use of land, the work of goat sheep farmers, the profitability of the urban farm, the delivery of sesame and peanuts to the Finlay Institute, the operation of the Municipal Group of Urban Agriculture and the correct use of the equipment (tractors, plows and carts) received for the development program.

According to Adolfo Francisco Sánchez, Director of the Nazareno Agricultural Company Care Unit, this delegation will verify the compliance with the 12 measures proposed in the previous course, of which 10 are complied with and 2 are in process.

They will also inspect, for the first time, the 23 circles of interest of the subprograms of urban agriculture of the Mayabeque’s capital.
