Mayabeque, Cuba__ The municipalities of Batabanó, Melena del Sur and Güines, in Mayabeque, report favorable results in the conservation of the environment, based on actions contemplated in the Manglar Vivo Project.
The alternative, promoted by the Cuban State, is the only one of its kind in the Caribbean region, and after two years of implementation the growth and development of the different species of mangroves in those territories has improved.
Since 2015, these three municipalities have reforested coastal areas and empowered the population to control and regulate lifestyles that are in harmony with nature.
Thanks to these measures, there is a strengthening of the ecosystems of these territories of southern Mayabeque, with emphasis on the development of the red mangrove, among other natural elements that constitute strengths against hurricanes and sea elevations.
