Mayabeque, Cuba__ The harvest of potato in Rubén Martínez Villena Agricultural Company, of Madruga, surpassed the expectations in the cold season recently concluded, when gathering almost 30 tons of the tuber per hectare cultivated.

The increase in the yields was related to the cultural attention to plantations and the use of quality seeds, in fields of the number four farm of the entity, which totaled the production of more than 100 tons of the desired food, in an area of almost 50 hectares.

These productive achievements are added to the harvest of 41 tons of beans, a line that replaces imports, but which could show greater results if there were no impacts of the drought.

Miguel Ángel Acosta Martínez, director of Villena Company of this municipality, said that the productions are to be commercialized in Mayabeque and stored in the refrigeration systems of the province.

Currently, this work collective is facing the Spring Campaign, which will report about 150 tons of grains, food and vegetables, and for which the entity has a new harvesting machine, delivered by the country's Ministry of Agriculture.
