Mayabeque, Cuba__ The Popular Council Surgidero of Batabanó, one of the population settlements of Mayabeque most affected by floods and sea penetration, was the scene of the provincial meeting to celebrate the World Environment Day, Camoa web site published.

At the meeting on June 8, they authorities recognized students who won contests, journalism professionals interested in protecting the environment, as well as entities and people dedicated for more than 10 years to preserve nature.

The winners in the competitions Harvesting the future, Preserving diversity, Friends of the Environment and Mi decima verde were awarded too.

The entities that contribute to the reduction of risks, among them the Delegation of the Ministry of Tourism, the Provincial Directorate of Education, the Business Base of Flora and Fauna and the Ranger Corps received also recognition.

The cultural activity includes the performance of amateur artists from Batabanó and the student from San Jose de las Lajas, Yeniffer Lugo, winner of the Singing to the Sun program.
