Beijing_ President Xi Jinping insisted today on strengthening the unity among all sectors of China's socio-economic and political life, because it will be the country's main tool for materializing its dreams of renewal, Prensa Latina reports. 

When closing the 13th National People's Congress (Parliament), the president indicated that a unified people mean power and strength, while the divisions only bring with them obstacles.

"China is a socialist state led by the working class (...) our obligation is to always be based on the people and listen to their voice," he said, calling all public officials to give priority to the interests, welfare and happiness of the population in their work.

However, Xi warned that to maintain public confidence and make China a modern and prosperous country, it is imperative to eradicate challenges such as poverty, environmental deterioration and corruption.

Therefore he reiterated its commitment to accelerate the ongoing campaigns against these scourges and also the zero tolerance of the Government and the Communist Party (CCP) against any act of negligence that hampers them.

He also emphasized the development of socialism with Chinese characteristics as the route that will lead to concrete revitalization plans in the middle of this century, as well as forming a first level armed forces to guarantee the defense of the territory.

The president was re-elected on Saturday unanimously in the plenary of the Assembly, which was held from last day 5 until today with nearly three thousand deputies from the entire Asian giant.

The parliamentarians appointed the new members of the State Council, approved the economic plans, reforms to the government institutions and the CPC, and new amendments to the Constitution.
