Tel Aviv,_ Amid the rejection by most of the international community, the United States of America officially moves today the embassy in Israel from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem, Prensa Latina publishes.

Although U.S. President, Donald Trump, decided not to attend the ceremony, Washington will be represented by Secretary of the Treasury, Steven Mnuchin, and Deputy Secretary of State, John Sullivan.

Trump's daughter, Ivanka, and her husband, Jared Kushner, both advisors of the White House, will also attend.

At the moment, the American diplomatic representation will work within the U.S. consulate in Jerusalem waiting to build a totally new embassy.

The opening ceremony of the embassy takes place on occasion of the 70th anniversary of the establishment of the Israeli state, which for the Palestinian people was the beginning of the forced exodus of about 750,000 nationals from their ancestral lands.

Trump's decision to recognize Jerusalem as Israel's capital was rejected by the overwhelming majority of the community international, including the European Union.

According to international law, Israel lacks sovereignty over Jerusalem, as it was occupied by its troops in 1967, along with other Palestinian lands.

As a means to perpetuate its occupation, and try to make it irreversible, Tel Aviv has built about 10 illegal settlements since 1967 in the eastern part of the city, in which some 200,000 Israelis are currently living.
