Havana_ The candidate of the Junts per Catalunya independence formation, Quim Torra, was inaugurated on Monday as president of the Generalitat of Catalonia, by obtaining a simple majority in the second round of voting in the Catalan Parliament, Radio Habana Cuba publishes.
The abstention of the four deputies of the anti-capitalist independence party CUP allowed that in this session Torra, of the parliamentary group of Carles Puigdemont, has been elected president by simple majority, with 66 votes in favor of his group and Esquerra Republicana de Catalunya against 65 votes against the rest of the groups.
Torra is the fourth candidate presented by the independentistas to the Presidency of the Generalitat, after the former president Puigdemont, Jordi Sánchez and Jordi Turull, the three immersed in judicial processes.
With this inauguration it is unblocked the political situation of Catalonia, which since the elections of December 21 had not managed to have neither Government nor president, and it ceases to be in force article 155 of the Spanish Constitution, which supposed the intervention of its autonomy to hands of the central government.
