Beijing_ Chinese President Xi Jinping expressed today his regrets to the Cuban president Miguel Mario Díaz-Canell Bermudez, for the plane crash that occurred in Havana which left more than 100 people dead and three wounded, Prensa Latina reports.

Xi said in a letter that the tragedy had a profound impact on him and he asked to extend his condolences to the relatives of the deceased.

"On behalf of the government and people of China, and my own, I express my deepest sympathy to the families of the victims and solidarity with the injured," the Asian leader said.

He also conveyed condolences to the president of Mexico, Enrique Peña Nieto, because six people from that country died in that incident in the incident.

Xi joins several mandataries and international leaders who express their solidarity with the Caribbean nation after the lethal event, which occurred on Friday afternoon.

The Boeing-737 plane, of the Mexican company Damojh and leased by Cubana de Aviación, crashed with 104 passengers on board after taking off from the José Martí international airport.

The ship traveled from Havana to the city of Holguin, located in the east of the Island.

The Cuban government decreed two days of mourning in tribute to the victims and investigates the causes of the accident.
