Beijing_ China and the European Union expressed today its opposition to the rise of protectionist and unilateral practices as those applied by the United States, after alerting on its devastating effect on world trade, Prensa Latina reports.
At the end of the seventh high-level dialogue on Economy and Trade, both parties told the press they will join forces against those actions because if they persist they could unleash a recession and reiterated the defense of keeping an open, multilateral and governed trade system, with the rules of the World Trade Organization.
China and the EU stated their common stand before a context marked by turbulence generated by the unilateral tariff imposition by the United States on imports of the Asian giant and other nations, some of the community bloc.
Those actions keep the world on the verge of a trade war with catastrophic projections for business.
This Monday's talks also approached issues of bilateral interest such as investment, development guided by innovation and interconnection.
The delegations also agreed to find satisfactory solutions to their differences in those areas.
This type of forum started to be held in 2007 and it is the most important of its type for relations of China and Europe.
The present edition was headed by Chinese Deputy Prime Minister, Liu He, and the Vice President of the European Commission Jyrki Katainen and served as preamble for a summit which will session here next month.
