Washington_ US President Donald Trump today launched strong warnings to his Iranian counterpart, Hassan Rouhani, amid escalating tensions between the two countries after Washington's decision to leave the nuclear deal with Tehran, Prensa Latina reports.
'To Iranian President Rouhani: Never, ever threaten the United States again or you will suffer consequences the likes of which few throughout history have ever suffered before,' Trump said on Twitter on Sunday.
As part of his message, published almost entirely in capital letters, Trump added that the United States will no longer support its insane words of violence and death and called on his counterpart to be cautious.
Trump's statement came after Rouhani on Sunday called on Washington to stop its provocations against the Persian nation, in reference to increasingly hostile policies by the US administration.
'The US must understand very well that peace with Iran is the mother of all peaces and war with Iran is the mother of all wars,' the president noted in Tehran at a meeting with the heads of Iranian diplomatic missions.
The Iranian people will defeat any threat from the White House, added Rouhani, who in reference to the sanctions promoted by Washington noted that they will have some costs, but in the end, the benefits will be more for his people.
Tensions between the two countries have escalated since May 8, when Trump decided to withdraw unilaterally from the nuclear deal signed in 2015 by Iran and the Group 5+1 (United States, France, United Kingdom, China and Russia plus Germany).
That position of the head of the White House in relation to the Comprehensive Plan of Joint Action occurred despite the fact that the rest of the nations involved in the mechanism defended it and consider that Iran complies with what is established in it.
The North American exit implies both the re imposition of sanctions and the application of secondary punishments against third countries.
In that sense, the northern nation pressures its allies to complete all imports of Iranian oil before that last date, which could affect countries with close ties to the United States in Europe and Asia.
In addition, earlier this month an official of the State Department said that Trump will not hesitate to punish foreign companies that do not comply with the sanctions to be imposed in the coming months.
Local media pointed out that such a position could further intensify conflicts with traditional allies in Europe with a desire to negotiate with Tehran.
