Damascus_ Syrian army has denounced today that Israel''s shooting down of a military jet in the south of the country demonstrates Tel Aviv''s complicity with terrorist groups fighting the Damascus government, Prensa Latina reports.

A military source told the official news agency Sana'a that the aircraft was fired upon while bombing Islamic state positions in the Yarmuk valley of Quneitra province.

The spokesman assured that the aircraft was flying over Syrian airspace at the moment of the attack.

On its Twitter, the Israeli army confirmed the aircraft was shot down by two Patriot missiles.

The area is close to the Golan Heights, a Syrian territory occupied by Israel since 1967 and refusing to be returned by the Tel Aviv authorities despite UN Security Council resolutions.

The Damascus authorities have repeatedly denounced the financial and military support of the Israeli State to extremist groups in Syria.
