Washington_ The president of the United States, Donald Trump, proposed to the president-elect of Mexico, Andrés Manuel López Obrador, to carry out a quick negotiation of the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA), Radio Habana Cuba reports. Â
The US president responded to a letter issued by López Obrador on July 20, which was received by Trump on Tuesday at the end of the afternoon.
Trump once again congratulated López Obrador for his triumph, adding that he has great interest in working on bilateral relations. "I look forward to working closely with you and building a great relationship between our two nations."
Referring to the issue of migration, Trump said he welcomes legal migration from around the world, "but we cannot accept illegal migration."
"Just like you, I considered that dealing with illegal migration involves much more than just a strongly secured border, we are prepared to address the issue of economic development, as well as those related to security, which push the migration from Central America, but we must also increase cooperation to protect the rule of law and sovereignty of both countries, as well as vulnerable migrants who are victimized by violent criminal organizations, " the US president said.
The document was read at a press conference by the future Chancellor Marcelo Ebrard, a member of the López Obrador transition team.
