Paris_ The French Foreign Minister, Jean-Yves Le Drian, begins today a tour that will take him to Colombia and Cuba, which will last until Sunday, Prensa Latina reports.

In his first stop, the chancellor will be received by his Colombian counterpart, María Ángela Holguín, and will meet with the president-elect, Ivan Duque, in order to finalize the first contacts with the future authorities of the country.

Le Drian “will reaffirm France's support for the peace process, as well as our willingness to continue helping Colombia on the path of reconciliation”, said a text issued by the French Foreign Ministry.

The visit will also allow work to strengthen French bilateral cooperation, mainly in the economic, cultural, university and security areas, the note added.

The foreign minister will arrive in Cuba on Saturday in what will be "the first visit of a European Minister of Foreign Affairs after the election of the new president, Miguel Diaz-Canel," the ministry said.

There he will meet with his counterpart, Bruno Rodríguez, and with the Minister of Foreign Trade and Foreign Investment, Rodrigo Malmierca.

The exchange 'will allow us to continue the dynamic of strengthening the political dialogue and the economic, cultural, university and scientific relations between our countries,' the statement said.
