Managua_ The Nicaraguan government will present today a quantitative report of the damages caused by violent groups promoting an attempted coup in the country, Vice President Rosario Murillo said, Prensa Latina reports.

“We are going to make known the number of vehicles, institutions, family homes, etc., that they (the coup leaders) destroyed between April and July”, she said.

"They, the ones that everybody knows, those who every day exhibit giving continuity to their coup speeches, those who intend to continue attacking Nicaragua, are responsible," Murillo said.

She insisted that the leaders of the coup were those who "killed the 197 Nicaraguan brothers" and for that reason the people demand punishment, and justice for the victims of the coup terrorism.

According to government complaints, internal and external political groups, together with elements of the organized crime, perpetrated murders, torture, kidnappings, rapes, fires, looting, destruction of buildings, among other crimes described as atrocious, that disrupted peace and security of Nicaraguan families.

The Executive estimated in 197 the deaths due to the attempt, and reported another 253 fatalities in that context, as a result of common criminal activity, traffic accidents and other causes.

In this regard, she condemned that the opposition manipulated the numbers and added those deaths as if they had been caused in the coup attempt, to destroy the image of the country and overthrow the legitimate government of Daniel Ortega.

"The attempt of coup d’état has been defeated and the Nicaraguan people have returned to their normal daily tasks and the economic, social, productive and cultural activities of the country in an environment of restitution and increasing security," the Foreign Minister of the Republic,  Denis Moncada said on Thursday

The wave of violence and the socio-political crisis unleashed on April 18 also had a negative impact on the national economy, with losses in the order of more than 430 million dollars, according to estimates by the Central Bank of Nicaragua.

The financial entity projected a reduction of the Gross Domestic Product from 4.5 to one percent for this year.
