Quito_ The government of Ecuador rejected today a recent report elaborated by the State Department of the United States that criticizes the human rights situation on the South American nation, Prensa Latina reports.

“The national government refuses the unilateral and baseless critics that appear in the Annual Report on Human Rights (2015), published by the US Deparment of State”, an statement from the Ecuadorian Foreign Ministry said.

The authorities of the Andean nation also expressed their concern about the elaboration of unilateral reports that looks to affect in an unjustified way the international image of our country.

After remembering that Ecuador boost with conviction the respect and promotion of human rights and has ratified all the regional and international instruments on the issue, the text compares the position of Ecuador with the negative of the Unites States of ratifying those agreements and denounces some of the violations that occur in the North American territory.

At the same time, the government is worried about the persistence of threaten actions against the human rights, as the illegal detentions, the non-existence of judicial processes and the tortures in Guantanamo’s prison and the illegal and criminal blockade to Cuba, among other serious situations.

The report includes Ecuador among the countries that apply administrative and bureaucratic procedures to limit the free association to the civil society and use intellectual property laws to censor Internet’s contents.
