Mayabeque, Cuba_ The people of Güines paid homage to the revolutionary Aleida Fernández Chardiet on the 60th anniversary of her murder by henchmen of Batista's tyranny.

At Mayabeque’s Clinical Surgical Teaching Hospital that bears the name of the only female martyr in this province, the work of the intrepid young woman who only had 26 years old when she was the victim of an official conspiracy of the regime that oppressed Cuba was highlighted.

During a special morning meeting, the telecommunications workers in this municipality highlighted the courage of the former international operator of the Telephone Company and the courage with which she intercepted a recording between Fulgencio Batista and the then US ambassador to Cuba, in which the dictator requested military aid to stifle the advance of the Rebel Army in the eastern mountains.

In the pantheon of the Chardiet family, located in the local necropolis, they placed a wreath to pay tribute to this woman who challenged the dictator.

There, the First Secretary of the Communist Party of Cuba in Güines, Andrés Nivaldo Reyes, said: "Saying yes for our Constitution, I think, it’s what correspond to all of us here to pay tribute to our martyrs and heroes who gave everything in the revolutionary feat for us to enjoy today our system, the most just in the world.

The president of the Association of Combatants of the Cuban Revolution, Manuel Álvarez Mendoza, stressed the importance of participating in the Constitutional Referendum as a sign of loyalty to the principles of the Revolution for which Aleida offered her life.
