United Nations_ The presidents of Bolivia, Evo Morales; Colombia, Juan Manuel Santos; Chile, Michelle Bachelet; and Peru, Ollanta Humala, are participating today on the final day of a forum on the global problem of drugs, Prensa Latina reported.

The day before, the Minister of Justice of Cuba, Maria Esther Reus, called for political will to deal with the problem of illicit drugs, which she considered an obstacle to sustainable development.

Reus said at the meeting, which brings together presidents, ministers, experts and representatives of civil society from five continents that the solution of the issue of mass production and trafficking of narcotics from the South takes places, to a certain extent, for eliminating the majority demand from the North.

Meanwhile Enrique Peña Nieto, Mexican head of state, proposed on Tuesday 10 points to update policies against drugs, with priority for the cooperation, health and prevention.

Besides the Latin American leaders, on the last day of the special session convened by the General Assembly, it will be heard the intervention of 35 speakers, including representatives of Algeria, Ecuador, El Salvador, Finland, Jordan, Libya, Myanmar, Nicaragua, Russia, Sudan and Venezuela.
