"The current situation requires preparing ourselves to defend the country's right to dignity, sovereignty and independence, to defend coexistence in the 21st century as a free nation”, he said.

During the inauguration, Maduro ratified: the exercises recall the 200 years of the Congress of Angostura, 'of the speeches of the Liberator Simón Bolívar where he fixed the doctrine of independence, of the Republic, of the future and that we are the Fatherland'.

The president also congratulated the soldiers of the Bolivarian National Armed Forces (FANB) for their dedication to the defense of the territory.

"Venezuela has the right to tranquility and no one should attempt to violate its sovereignty, because it will find a fully prepared FANB to defend honor, dignity and decorum”, he said.

The purpose of the maneuvers is to expose the operational and technical capabilities of the armed forces together with the organized popular power, on the occasion of the anniversary of the Angostura Congress, the origin of the first Venezuelan Constitution.
