Brasilia_ Brazil's Attorney General Jose Eduardo Cardozo announced today before a committee of senators that he would ask the Supreme Federal Tribunal (STF) to annul the ongoing impeachment process against President Dilma Rousseff, Prensa Latina reports.

The request will be based on the decision of the STF Minister Teori Zavascki, who ordered Thursday the suspension of the term of office of the head of the Chamber of Deputies Eduardo Cunha, currently in prison and one of the main promoters of impeachment against the president.

It is indisputable that while in office Cunha misused his power for purposes unrelated to his duties, as shown clearly the Supreme Court's decision, Cardozo said before the committee of senators in charge of analyzing the request for impeachment.

Regarding the report presented by Senator Antonio Anastasia, of the opposition Brazilian Social Democracy Party, Cardozo stated that the document (in favor of the opening of impeachment proceeding) was made manifestly to condemn.

Cardozo recalled that the impeachment is a legal and political process, which should ensure proper criminal and administrative proceeding.
