It will be exceptionally granted to those who did not receive these decorations, when they perform important tasks inside or outside Cuba indefinitely, with a relevant result. Individuals linked to the training of the new generations of Cubans, even though they may not be young, may exceptionally be proposed.

Award conferred by the Young Communist League of the Republic of Cuba. It is given to young Cubans and foreigners for their revolutionary attitude and remarkable merits achieved in creative work, in artistic and literary culture, in sport, in the struggle for the conquest and defense of the achievements and interests of the young Cuban generation or international and by the consistent practice of proletarian internationalism.

Distinction granted by the Young Communist League of the Republic of Cuba to the UJC Committees and their grassroots organizations, the independent base committees, the UJC management bodies and other centers linked to the organization with relevant results in their daily work, both at work , as in the organic life of the organization.

These must have at least five years of constitution, except for exceptions that for extraordinary merits the National Bureau of the UJC decides. These are approved by the National Bureau of the UJC, with the validation of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba.

Born on December 2, 1961, in salute to the landing of the Yacht Granma in Las Coloradas, they have a structure, equipment and preparation that guarantees the fulfillment of their combative missions and also allows the use of their members in activities of benefit for the economic development of the country and for the protection of the environment.

They are composed of the Regular Troops and the Territorial Troop Militias, and carry out their missions during the armed struggle in cooperation with the organs and units of the Ministry of the Interior and the Production and Defense Brigades.

It is the vanguard political organization of Cuban youth, it is the youth organization of the Communist Party of Cuba (PCC) and the main quarry for the entry into their ranks, forged in the Marxist-Leninist conception, ideas and the practice of Maceo, Martí, Camilo, Che and Fidel; It is the heiress and continuation of the traditions of struggle of the young Cubans who throughout history have been an essential part of the revolutionary advance, as was shown by the attitude of the Five Heroes, genuine representatives of the generations formed by the Revolution .

The Young Communists League maintains relations with 218 organizations from different parts of the world and is affiliated to the World Federation of Democratic Youths; In turn develops links with 14 other international organizations. The first secretary of the organization is Yuniasky Crespo Baquero.

Regarding the characteristics of the organization of Cuban youth, Che said:

"The Young Communists League has to be defined in one word: the avant-garde: you, comrades, must be the vanguard of all movements: the first to be ready for the sacrifices that the revolution demands, whatever the nature of those sacrifices The first in the study, the first in the study, the first in the defense of the country.

The Young Communists League carries out its mission with children, adolescents and young people, through the direct work of the militants and the José Martí Pioneers Organization (OPJM), the Federation of Students of the Middle Education (FEEM), the Federation of University Students (FEU) and the Martiano Youth Movement (MJM), which freely and conscientiously accept their political leadership, to which it guides and controls Based on respect for its autonomous functioning and its organic independence.

The organization contributes to the communist education of the new generations, based on patriotism, fidelity to the Communist Party of Cuba, defense of the highest human values, contribution to the economic and social development of the country and in the deeply anti-imperialist and internationalist values which has distinguished the Cuban Revolution; It promotes the creative, conscious and enthusiastic participation of all adolescent and young children in the construction of Socialism, expressed in the study, work and defense of the Homeland, symbolized in its emblem through the example of Mella, Camilo and El Che.

As the vanguard of Cuban youth:

It defends socialism as the only option for development, social justice and democracy, in an independent homeland, which preserves the dignity and freedom of Cubans.
It assumes the principle of never giving in to the threats and increasing actions of imperialism and the enemies of the Revolution, both inside and outside the country.
It defends unity on the basis of respect for the plurality of points of view within and outside the organization, so that honesty, honesty, political courage, objectivity and analysis always prevail. Reflect, with a sense of the historical moment, from its own perspective and approaches, the values, struggles and conditions of our society.
It is internationalist and deeply in solidarity with the most just causes of all peoples, with their classmates and with the rest of society.
It participates actively in the economic and social development of the country, convinced of the importance of the economic battle in the sustainability and preservation of our social system.
It assumes the responsibility of giving continuity to the Revolution and to the socialist model, forged by several generations of Cubans, which represents an alternative for the peoples before the capitalist system prevailing in the world and that contributes to the Latin American unity.

The Young Communists League establishes in its statutes approved in 2004 during its VIII congress, that the organization is structured as follows:

Congress

It meets every 4 years, in which delegates from all provinces of the country participate, including the special municipality Isla de la Juventud. In the designation of the National Committee, the National Bureau, the statutes and internal regulations are elaborated.

National Bureau

It is chaired by a First Secretary, is made up of between 10 and 15 members. He is in charge of the management of the organization as long as the National Committee does not meet. There are in each province and municipality, a provincial bureau and a municipal bureau.

National committee

It meets twice a year, in the provinces three times a year and in the municipalities up to 4 times. He is in charge of the organization's management within the inter-congress stage. In the provinces are established

Admission to the Organization

Income is voluntary and selective. It has more than 500 000 young people and the projection of its work goes beyond its members, it is addressed to all the young population of the country.

The entry into the organization is between the ages of 15 and 30 years. In the case of 15-year-olds, the card is granted only to those who exhibit exceptional behavior in the study, work, and development mainly as a student. It currently has more than 600,000 militants.
