It’s a municipality of Mayabeque province. The name comes from the native voice Axaruco which means freshwater stream, which shows the existence in this territory of a river that from primitive times was linked to the life of the inhabitants of this land (the river San Juan de Jaruco that crosses the town, in which margins there is evidence of the presence of aboriginal settlements and where the population initially emerged).

It is located to the east of the province and limits to the North with the municipality Santa Cruz del Norte, to the South with the municipality San José de las Lajas, to the east with the municipality Madruga and to the West with the municipality of Habana del Este. It has a territorial extension of 275,7 km2.

It is a municipality of the province Mayabeque. It is a result of the administrative political division established in 1976 by agreement of the 1st Congress of the Communist Party in which the territories of the old term of Aguacate and Pipián, pertaining to San Nicolas of Bari, were grouped.

It is located in the northeast of the province of Mayabeque. It limits to the North with the municipalities of Jaruco and Santa Cruz del Norte., to the East with the municipalities Limonar and Union de Reyes of the province of Matanzas, to the South with the municipalities Nueva Paz, San Nicolas and Güines and to the West with the municipality San José de las Lajas.

It has an area of 463.1 Km2 that represents the 8.1% of the surface of this province.

Madruga urban settlement functions as the head of the municipality, this is located south-west of the municipal area and is composed of the Madruga and Boris Luis Popular Councils.

Other popular councils of the municipality are: Aguacate, Pipián, Boris Luis, Villena and Flor de Itabo.

30 741 inhabitants and a population density of 66.3 hab / km2.

It is one of the 11 municipalities of the province Mayabeque. At the same time, Quivicán is the name that receives the head of the municipality to which also the towns of La Salud (before 1976, municipality), San Felipe, Santa Monica, Güiro Boñigal, Pablo Noriega, among other rural settlements of less density population belong to. It is considered as one of the twenty oldest towns of all Cuba.

The municipality of Quivicán is located in the center of the southern karst plain Habana - Matanzas, at 82.5 degrees West longitude and 23.2 latitude North, 38 Km from the City of Havana. It limits to the North with the municipality of Bejucal, to the South with the Gulf of Batabanó, to the East with the municipalities San Jose de las Lajas and Batabanó and by the West with the municipalities of Guira de Melena and San Antonio de los Baños. It occupies a territorial extension of 284,6 Km2.

Population in thousands of inhabitants

Its population towards the end of century XX, was of 29 677 inhabitants, for a density of 104 inhabitants per km2.

It is an Integral Civil Registry System, designed in Mexico, has reliable and proven technologies, and is easy to install.

Its objectives are: to automate services, such as registers of people (newborns), acts (marriages, divorces), printing of original and certified minutes, as well as sending data to the state civil registry.

It is the vanguard political organization of Cuban youth, it is the youth organization of the Communist Party of Cuba (CCP) and the main quarry for the entry into their ranks, forged in the Marxist-Leninist conception, ideas and the practice of Maceo, Martí, Camilo, Che and Fidel; It is heiress and continuation of the traditions of struggle of the young Cubans who throughout history have been an essential part of the revolutionary advance, as shown by the attitude of the Five Heroes, genuine representatives of the generations formed by the Revolution .

The Young Communists League maintains relations with 218 organizations from different parts of the world and is affiliated to the World Federation of Democratic Youths; In turn it develops links with 14 other international organizations. The first secretary of the organization is Yuniasky Crespo Baquero.

Regarding the characteristics of the organization of Cuban youth, Che said:

"The Young Communists League has to be defined in one word: the avant-garde: you, comrades, must be the vanguard of all movements: the first to be ready for the sacrifices that the revolution demands, whatever the nature of those sacrifices The first in the study, the first in the study, the first in the defense of the country.

The Young Communists League carries out its mission with children, adolescents and young people, through the direct work of the militants and the José Martí Pioneers Organization (OPJM), the Federation of Middle Level Education Students, the University Students Federation (FEU) and the Martiano Youth Movement (MJM), which freely and conscientiously accept their political leadership, to which it guides and controls based on the respect for its autonomous functioning and its organic independence.

As a vanguard of Cuban youth:

It defends socialism as the only option for development, social justice and democracy, in an independent homeland, which preserves the dignity and freedom of Cubans.

It assumes the principle of never giving in to the threats and increasing actions of imperialism and the enemies of the Revolution, both inside and outside the country.

It defends unity on the basis of respect for the plurality of points of view within and outside the Organization, so that honesty, political courage, objectivity and analysis always prevail so this reflect, with a sense of the historical moment, from their own perspective and approaches, the values, struggles and conditions of our society.

It is internationalist and deeply in solidarity with the most just causes of all peoples, with their classmates and with the rest of society.

It participates actively in the economic and social development of the country, convinced of the importance of the economic battle in the sustainability and preservation of our social system.

It assumes the responsibility of giving continuity to the Revolution and to the socialist model, forged by several generations of Cubans, which represents an alternative for the peoples before the capitalist system prevailing in the world and that contributes to the Latin American unity.

The Young Communists League establishes in its statutes approved in 2004 during its VIII congress, that the organization is structured as follows:

Congress

It meets every 4 years, in which delegates from all provinces of the country participate, including the special municipality Isla de la Juventud. In the designation of the National Committee, the National Bureau, the statutes and internal regulations are elaborated.

National Bureau

It is chaired by a First Secretary, is made up of between 10 and 15 members. It is in charge of the management of the organization as long as the National Committee does not meet. There are in each province and municipality, a provincial bureau and a municipal bureau.

National committee

It meets twice a year, in the provinces three times a year and in municipalities up to 4 times. He is in charge of the organization's management within the inter-congress stage. In the provinces the Provincial Committees are established and in the municipalities, the Municipal ones.

Admission to the Organization

The entering to the organization is voluntary and selective. It includes than 500 000 young people and the projection of its work goes beyond its members, it is addressed to all the young population of the country.

The entry into the organization is between the ages of 15 and 30 years. In the case of 15-year-olds, the card is granted only to those who exhibit exceptional behavior in the study, work, and development mainly as a student. It currently has more than 600,000 militants.

The purpose of the convention is to promote the professional competencies and values required for the development of the technologies and their epistemic basis in the medical sciences, based on the scientific research of health technology professionals or related to them; Promote research in Health Systems and Services, as well as establish cooperation links between national and international institutions and strengthen scientific, social and cultural links.

In its third edition, it is organized in Congresses, Symposiums, Workshops and Meetings that cover various current issues in the area of health technologies. They are: IV International Congress of Podiatry; IV International Symposium of Optometrists and Opticians; IV Conference on Image Technology; III Meeting of Students of the Technical Areas of Health; VIII International Workshop on External Fixation; III Meeting of Professional Training in Medical Education.

In addition, the first International Symposium on Health Rehabilitation Technologies; Workshop on Electromedicine: challenges and perspectives; III International Symposium on Nutrition and Dietetics; III International Symposium on Oral Health and Technology; II International Symposium on Pharmaceutical Technologies and Services; I International Symposium on Clinical Bioanalysis; II Virtual Congress of Health Technology.

Experts of recognized national and international prestige will give keynote lectures and will hold round tables on topics of interest and in this way contribute to the development of excellent teaching and care services. In addition, there is an Associated Exhibition of Technologies, Projects and Experiences in the area of health technologies.
