Hanoi_ Over two hundred twenty people died or disappeared in the last five years in Vietnam due to extreme weather events, which also caused the loss of millions of dollars in damage, especially associated with the effects of climate change, Radio Reloj publishes.

The issue was discussed at a meeting of the National Steering Committee for the Control and Prevention of Natural Disasters, during which it was explained that since late 2014 the country has been reporting surges and low rainfall.

To mitigate the damage associated with these phenomena the government approved assistance for more than three hundred million dollars and the delivering of several tons of rice.
Deputy Prime Minister Hoang Tru Hai praised the work of that committee and called on government agencies and localities to improve the capacity to respond to disasters in the base.
