Tehran, Jun 4 (Prensa Latina) War and talks do not go together, Iran''s Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif said, referring to statements by the US government about holding talks without preconditions with Tehran.

In a social media message posted on Tuesday, Zarif condemned the economic terrorism the United States is applying against the Islamic Republic.

Economic terrorism against Iran targets innocent civilians, like the case of a little boy whose heartbroken mother cannot get him prosthetic legs as he grows up, he said.

War and talks, with or without preconditions, do not go together, Zarif reiterated, at the time of posting a video of a mother who says that US sanctions have made the prosthetic limbs almost unobtainable in the market.

Zarif responded to recent comments by US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, that Washington is willing to talk with Iran without prior preconditions.

Earlier, Foreign Ministry spokesman Abbas Mousavi described Pompeo's statements as game of words and those expressions with covert goals under the guise of new words do not matter to Iran.

What matters to the Islamic Republic is a change in the United States' general approach and practical behavior toward the Iranian nation, he said.
