México:  Mexican journalist Jorge Celestino Ruiz Vazquez, a contributor to the newspaper Grafico de Xalapa, was assassinated on Saturday in Actopan municipality, Veracruz, Prensa Latina reports.

Including Ruiz Vazquez, 11 journalists have been killed in the line of duty since December 1, 2018, when President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador took office, although personal surveillance on reporters has been reinforced.

According to preliminary reports, the command of Actopan received a call to report that a person had been shot in the town of La Bocanita.

A squad car from the Municipal Police responded the call and found the reporter dead. In 2018, he was the victim of another attack when his car was riddled with bullets.

Veracruz Governor Cuitlahuac Garcia Jimenez condemned the crime on his Twitter account.

'We condemn the cowardly assassination of the correspondent of a local media, Jorge Ruiz. We will find those responsible; his crime will not go unpunished. For hours, we have followed up on the coordinated operation to capture those guilty,' he pointed out.
