Harare: Zimbabwe is going through one of its worst famine and food insecurity crises today, and several United Nations agencies launched an additional call to offer urgent assistance, Radio Reloj publishes.

According to the World Food Program, more than one third of the rural population in that country will have difficulty feeding in October; and in January that figure is expected to increase to 5.5 million during the season between harvests.

Most of the 60 districts of Zimbabwe will deplete their corn stocks in October, which will affect 60 percent of the rural population.

Zimbabwe faces many humanitarian challenges arising from climate change and economic crises; after the droughts of last year and the current one, together with the continuous macroeconomic challenges, food insecurity has worsened.
