Washington: The US government announced today that it will delay until December 15 the application of tariffs to Chinese products such as cell phones, laptops, video game consoles, toys, and certain items of footwear and clothing, Prensa Latina publishes.

All these goods were part of the list of products worth 300 billion dollars a year to which President Donald Trump said they will be applied tariffs of 10 percent from September 1.

In addition to extending taxes on these products, the Office of the Commercial Representative of the country said in a statement that some merchandise will be totally removed from the list 'depending on health, national security and other factors', and will not face the tariffs of 10 percent.

These adjustments occur when the administration faces increasing pressure from companies and consumer groups who claim that the continuing commercial war with China is hurting them.

The announcement about the extension for some products and the departure of others came shortly after Trump repeated on Twitter today that his taxes were not causing higher prices for American consumers and that China was paying the cost, something disputed by economists and companies.

Several media outlets saw the measure as a relief during the holiday shopping season, because, despite President Donald Trump's argument that tariffs are paid by China and not by the Americans, economists indicate that the cost of levies yes it is transferred to the companies and consumers of this country.
