United Nations: The situation in Aden, Yemen, today generates great alarm at the UN due to the numerous deaths of civilians and injured people provoked by the confrontations between the Government and armed groups in that locality, Cubasí publishes.

Therefore, the Secretary General of the United Nations, António Guterres, reiterated his call for maximum moderation and asked the parties to adhere to international humanitarian law.

The authorities of the multilateral organization are very concerned about the impact of violence on civilians: preliminary reports indicate that up to 40 people died and 260 were injured.

The UN Secretary General also referred to the initiative of Saudi Arabia to convene a meeting in Jeddah between interested parties, to resolve their differences through dialogue.

According to the UN, more than 30 humanitarian organizations currently operate in Aden, and reach an average of 1.9 million people every month with food aid and more than 1.6 million with access to drinking water.

In addition, the multilateral agency has about 300 national and international employees working in Aden, and although some have retired, more personnel are expected to arrive in the coming days.

The port of that city, which is one of the main gateways of commercial and humanitarian goods to Yemen, is still in operation, while the airport also reopened.

Local reports indicate that this weekend the fighting increased in Aden, after an armed group tried to board the doors of the presidential palace on Yemen's temporary capital, Aden, on August 7, but the guards managed to stop them and opened fire.
