London: Queen Elizabeth II today approved the request presented by Prime Minister Boris Johnson to suspend Parliament between September 9 and October 14, Prensa Latina publishes.

According to the Sky News chain, the British head of state made the decision after meeting this Wednesday with her body of advisers, known as the Private Council, at her summer residence in Balmoral, Scotland.

The House of Commons plans to restart its sessions next Tuesday, so the monarch's support for the prime minister's request greatly shortens the time that opposition parliamentarians will have to try to prevent Johnson from fulfilling his promise to bring the United Kingdom out of the European Union (EU) on October 31, 'with or without agreement'.

Johnson claims, however, that there will be enough time to discuss the Brexit issue once the Legislative Power resumes its work on October 14, the date the executive said, will outline a new parliamentary agenda.

The suspension of Parliament unleashed, however, a political storm in the country, especially among those who oppose the United Kingdom abruptly leaving the European bloc.
