Chile: The Chile’s Unitary Central of Workers (CUT) along with other trade union and social movements carries out a general strike before the increase in public services dictated by the Government of Sebastián Piñera, which has generated protests and cost the lives of 15 people, Prensa Latina reports.

The statement of the Social Unit table, consisting of more than fifty movements, urged Chileans to a two-day national strike to express their outrage and rejection of the structures of the current neoliberal model.

The Central also stressed that President Sebastián Piñera, when declaring the South American country in a state of emergency, deepened a social and governance crisis unprecedented in the history of the nation.

Under the slogan "We Get Tired, We Unite", Chileans will demand during the strike the immediate repeal of the state of emergency and the return of the military to their barracks, and the definition and implementation of a package of emergency economic measures regarding social rights for the working people.
