Havana, Cuba: New sanctions of Trump’s administration against Cuba were announced this Friday, precisely the same day that the Miami counterrevolution was carrying out an event where the secretary of the Organization of American States, Luis Almagro, would deliver a speech.

This time the United States suspends regular flights from its territory to nine destinations in Cuba, according to the US press.

The measure, which will take effect on December 10, will not allow flights to Ignacio Agramonte international airports, in Camaguey, Jardines del Rey, in Cayo Coco, Vilo Acuña, in Cayo Largo, Jaime González, in Cienfuegos, Frank País, in Holguín, Sierra Maestra, in Manzanillo, Juan Gualberto Gómez, in Matanzas, Abel Santamaría, in Santa Clara, and Antonio Maceo, in Santiago de Cuba.

The flight suspension is the most recent of a set of measures taken by the Trump administration to deprive Cuba of income and punish it for its collaboration with Venezuela.

The Secretary of State, Mike Pompeo, requested the application of the measure in a letter sent to the Department of Transportation, arguing that the suspension of flights to these nine airports sends a clear message to the Cuban Government that the United States is taking firm action against Cuba for supporting Venezuela.

Other provisions such as the revocation of authorizations to rent airplanes to Cubana de Aviacion, which obliges the airline to cancel flights to seven international destinations, entered into force this week.

In June, the United States banned cruise trips to the Island, as well as travel by airplanes and private yachts. In October, transfer of remittances to Cuban citizens entered into force. The Trump administration also sanctioned companies that facilitate oil shipments to the Island.
