The presidents of Cuba, Venezuela, Mexico, Bolivia and El Salvador congratulated Alberto Fernández for his triumph in the elections held this Sunday in Argentina, Prensa Latina reports.
The Cuban president, Miguel Díaz-Canel, in a message posted on his official Twitter account, sent his congratulations to the president-elect of Argentina, and said "that it leads to a defeat of neoliberalism [...] La Patria Grande is celebrating" .
Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro congratulated Alberto Fernández and Cristina Fernández de Kirchner in a statement for his "overwhelming and unbeatable victory in the first round of the presidential elections."
"The massive electoral participation [...] sends a clear message from the Argentine people in rejection of the imposition of the neoliberal economic political criminals of the International Monetary Fund, imposed without mercy in recent years by the authorities on duty," Maduro said.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Mexico also tweeted that the Government of President Andrés Manuel López Obrador expressed "his approval for the celebration of an exemplary and peaceful election day, which reflects the democratic maturity of the people of Argentina."
Mexico reiterated its interest in continuing to deepen bilateral cooperation and friendship ties with the Latin American country.
The president of El Salvador, Nayib Bukele, in his social networks, congratulated the triumph of Fernández, who defeated the current president of Argentina, Mauricio Macri in the elections.
The first Salvadoran president wished Fernández "the best of governments" and wished "to be able to work together for our nations."
Also the president of Bolivia, Evo Morales, joined the congratulations, sending “a revolutionary hug to our brothers Alberto Fernández and Cristina Fernández, elected as president and vice president of Argentina”.
The presidential elections in Argentina were held on October 27 and Alberto Fernández has become the next president for a four-year term.
