United States: Eleven US Democratic senators opposed to the policy promoted today against Cuba by the Donald Trump administration sent a letter to the executive to reject the new restrictions imposed on flights to the island, Prensa Latina reports.
In the letter, sent to the Secretaries of State, Mike Pompeo; and Transportation, Elaine Chao, the members of the Senate warned that the decision to suspend commercial air travel to nine international airports in the Caribbean country is another step back for the peoples of both nations.
According to the members of the Upper House, the Trump administration's approach to Cuba has severely harmed US and Cuban businesses, farmers and citizens, while not achieving any foreign policy or national security objectives of States United.
Many travelers, some of whom are Cuban-Americans who visit relatives in remote areas of Havana, will now have to pay significantly more for charter flights, which are exempt from the new restrictions, the lawmakers added in the text.
