Mexico: The former president of Bolivia, Evo Morales, arrived in Mexico today after the government of Andrés Manuel López Obrador offered him political asylum after the coup d'état in Bolivia, Radio Reloj reports.

Foreign Minister Marcelo Ebrard personally received Evo Morales upon his arrival in Mexico. The Bolivian ex-president was accompanied by former Vice President Álvaro García Linyera and former Health Minister Gabriela Montaño.

"I am very grateful to the president and the Mexican people because they saved my life. On November 9, a military man received an offer of $ 50,000 in exchange for delivering me, Morales told reporters.

The Bolivian politician explained that in the hours after the coup d'etat against him, members of his security team showed him recordings with offers of cash to deliver Morales to his political enemies.

"As long as I have life, the struggle continues, and we are sure that the people have every right to free itself. I thought we had ended with oppression, humiliation, but other groups emerge that do not respect life and less the country," the Bolivian ex-president said.

We are grateful. The most important thing is to be alive. That allows me to continue next to the Bolivian people, the former president told the media.
