PekÃn_ China maintains today the orange alert due to the intense heat wave whipping the south half of the country during these last days with unusual temperatures of up to 41 grades in some areas and at least 19 dead persons, Prensa Latina publishes.
According to Global Times newspaper, more than 700 million people are affected by the increase of the heat, since last July 20th.
Some of the more punished areas, as the eastern city of Shanghái, the central Chongqing (near Yangtsé river) or the county f Hubei, also in the center of the country, go beyond the general recommendations and have declared the red alert, the maximum emergency level.
Temperatures between 35 and 39 grades Celsius are expected to affect zones alone Yangtze, Yellow and Huaihe rivers toward the counties of Sichuan and Guizhou in the Southwest of the country, according information given by the National Meteorological Center.
Similar temperatures are expected in the autonomous region of Uigur of Xinjiang and in the autonomous region of Mongolia interior, in the north of China.
In the county of Jiangsu they report 120 cases for heatstroke, 20 of them remain in critical state. "This affection has bigger probabilities of happening amid high temperatures, high humidity and windless" conditions, the doctors notice.
The electric power demand was shot in many regions due to the high temperatures. Places like Shandong restricted the use of electricity of some highly consumer industries after the population's demand reached record levels until last Monday.
Recently the government informed that the natural disasters and the extreme climate caused the country the most serious human and economic losses in regard to same period in previous years.
