Caracas_ The National Electoral Council will begin the validation of the fingerprints of the signs collected by the Democratic Unit Table (MUD in Spanish) to call the activation of the revocation referendum against President Nicolas Maduro, Radio Habana Cuba publishes.
The report was sent last week by the National Electoral Board to the Commission of Political Participation and Funding.
The MUD expected that the CNE would then approve the notification and give a date for the next step in the process, but it did not happen.
The CNE rector, Tibisay Lucena, said last Wednesday that the electoral power acts in strict compliance with the law to guarantee the rights of all parties involved.
Despite the transparency of procedures, the MUD has attacked the CNE in recent days, an attitude that could cause disturbances and assaults on officials and the electoral body.
Lucena made a call to avoid violence and stated that in any case of a breach of the peace, election proceedings would be suspended until calm was restored.
