South Africa_ The cities are full with electoral banners of the political parties and the media fill their spaces of news with messages abot the local elections to be held next Wednesday in Sudáfrica, Granma newspaper publishes.
Some experts assure that August 3rd will be a hard-fought day in some municipalities, but they bet mainly all in favor of the candidates for the National African Congress (ANC in Spanish), government's party since 1994.
“The country is ready for the elections", the Electoral Independent Commission (IEC) reiterated the eve, when leaving inaugurated the Center of Operations of National Results, focal point for the pursuit of the events of that day.
There are 204 parties, 855 independent candidates and 26,3 million registered voters, IEC confirmed when upgrading its statistics and explaining that the electoral materials are prepared in provincial warehouses for their distribution this week.
They will use some 153 thousand ballot boxes and near 133 thousand polling stations in the country.
The elections of the local governments are a meter of the balance of forces, prior to the general or parliamentarian ones and many of the topics transcend to the communities and municipalities, as the high unemployment, violence and corruption.
