Pretoria_ The South African president, Jacob Zuma, encouraged the more than 26,3 million voters registered today, to vote in tomorrow's local elections, like an expression of the maturity reached by the democracy in the country, Prensa Latina publishes.
In a message broadcasted by the SABC channel, Zuma expressed that for the first time in their history there are about 200 parties to take part in this election with more than 61 thousand candidates.
The leader remembered this voting is celebrated in a year that marks the 20 anniversary of the Constitution of the new South Africa.
Zuma authorized the deployment of near 2000 members of the National Defense Force to help the police keep the public order in the previous period and during the voting process in the nine provinces of the nation.
In the eve, the first votes of the local elections were emitted with the realization of the special vote, in a calm day, the Electoral Independent Commission (IEC) informed.
The electoral body underlined that the scrutiny had a stable begining only with some smaller setbacks.
A record of 719 thousand 222 applications of special votes received the approval of IEC, a figure almost three times higher than the result achieved in 2011, when they carried out a similar electoral process.
