Pretoria_ The president Jacob Zuma exercised his right to the vote in his native Nkandla, county of KwaZulu-Natal, during the local elections taking place in South Africa, Radio Havana Cuba publishes.
Almost 10 in the morning, Zuma arrived to the voting center located in a school and he incorporated to the line of voters.
After depositing the ballots, the head of state ratified his trust in the success of this day.
Zuma visited the Center of Operations of Results of the Electoral Independent Commission, here in Pretoria, to supervise the preparation of the system to face the elections.
An official statement of the ruling National African Congress (ANC) called to develop a peaceful election and urged the followers of the party which vote in areas with high levels of political tension, to exercise the tolerance and the moderation, in spite of eventual provocations.
The television showed images of the presence of leaders of ANC in other areas, as well as the voting of the opponent's Democratic Alliance leader, Mmusi Maimane, in a school of Johannesburg.
More than 26,3 million registered voters, 204 parties, around 61 thousand candidates, of them 855 independent, are some of the figures managed in these elections, the most close since the beginning of the democratic stage.
These elections allow determining the representatives of the governments in communities and municipalities for a five year-old period.
According to the most recent polls ANC could be the winner in the elections, although they predict closed results in some places.
