Madrid_ Cuba committed itself today here to strengthen ties with foreign investors who bet on its tourism and encourage new investments in this booming economic activity, Prensa Latina reports.
The Tourism Minister Manuel Marrero said that after more than 50 years resisting all kinds of pressure his country will never give up the cultural and historical legacy, or its principles and values.
Given the doubts of many European entrepreneurs to a possible flood of US businessmen, Marrero assured that the Caribbean nation will never turn its back to those who in the difficult times extended their hands.
Those who remained in our country contributed to the development of tourism, even with the pressure of successive US governments will always have the support of Cuba above others , as much important as they are, he emphasized.
The minister noted that an example of this commitment is the joint participation of Spanish and Cuban professionals in the promotion of the product os the island during the 36th edition of the International Tourism Fair of Madrid (FITUR), which began three days ago.
He described as highly significant the presence of the Greater Antilles in the Madrid exhibition, with a large delegation in which all Cuban sector companies are present, but also its foreign counterparts established in the Latin American nation.
Marrero stressed that they arrived to this Fair, considered among the most important in the world, with a 17.4 percent increase in tourism in 2015, when 3.525 000 international travelers reached the island.
He also stressed the excellent results of the issuer of this Iberian country's market, which closed last year with a 39 percent with the entry in Cuba of 107,000 Spanish tourists, a success shared by both sides, he added.
