Washington_ Cubans and United States’ officials held this September 12, in Washington, the first meeting of the Economic Bilateral Dialogue; mechanism created under the sponsorship of the Cuba United States’ Bilateral Commission, to approach mutual interest topics of economic, commercial and financial character, Cubadebate publishes.

Ileana Nuñez, Cuban Deputy Minister of the Foreign Trade and Investment and John Cremer, Assistant Secretary for Western Hemisphere Matters, ,headed the respectively delegations.

Nuñez was accompanied by representatives from the Ministries of Foreign Trade and Investment, Foreign Affairs as well as the Central Bank of Cuba, while on the US part there was a representation of the Trade, Treasure, State, Agriculture, Transport and Energy, and the Commercial Representative’s Office.

As a result of this first exchange and to pursuit specific topics of interest for both parts, they agreed the creation of diverse work groups, which will meet in a periodic way, alternating the headquarters.

The Cuban delegation reiterated that to advance in the economic, commercial and financial relationships, and toward the normalization of the bilateral links, it is essential the rising of the blockade that affects the development of the Cuban economy provoking damages and privations to its people.
