Oslo_ The Norwegian Committee of the Nobel Prize honored Juan Manuel Santos, president of Colombia, with the Nobel Peace Prize 2016 for his efforts to put an end to the armed conflict in the South American country, Radio Reloj publishes.
Juan Manuel Santos was elected among a total of 376 nominations that included 228 individuals and 148 organizations.
"The Norwegian Committee of the Nobel decided to grant the Nobel Peace Orize to the president of Colombia Juan Manuel Santos for his resolved efforts to put an end to those more than 50 years of civil war in the country", the coordinator of the Committee, Kaci Kullman Five explained.
