Moscow_ The Russian marine will transform its facilities in the port of Tartus, northwest of Syria, in a Russian permanent naval base, the deputy minister of Defense, Nikola Pankov announced, Radio Havana Cuba publishes.

"We are preparing the necessary documents”, he explained to the commission of Foreign Affairs of the Council of the Federation, the Parliament's high camera.

The Kremlin ordered recently the unfolding of antiaircraft defense batteries S-300 to complete its equipment in Tartous.

Russia has an air base in Hmeimim, near Latakia (northwest), since the end of August, 2015.

The Russian deputies ratified last week an agreement with Damascus for the deployment for an undefined duration of the Russian air forces in the military aerodrome of Hmeimim that passed under the Russian jurisdiction after the signature of an agreement between both countries.

This announcement takes place in a context of tension between Moscow and Washington after the failure of a truce in Syria that only lasted one week in September, constantly violated by the terrorist organizations.
