Washington_ The United States’ government is temporarily suspending deportations of Haitians after the catastrophe provoked by the hurricane Matthew on the Caribbean island, Prensa Latina published.

 “We have to deal with this situation and support the Haitian people” stated the Secretary of Homeland Security Jeh Johnson, who also made clear that the U.S. plans to resume deportation flights soon after the normalization of the situation.

According to estimates of international bodies the hurricane killed almost a thousand persons in Haiti and left more than a million urged of humanitarian assistance, beside a cholera outbreak.
