Bogotá_ The guerrilla leader Pastor Alape called on today to act quickly to save the advanced peace process between the Colombian government and the FARC-EP against the detractors’ delaying strategies, Radio Havana Cuba publishes.
This situation must be solved as soon as possible, we must work for that to happened before the end of the year, stated the commander of the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia-People's Army (FARC-EP) to El Tiempo newspaper.
He believes that those seeking to extend the controversy arising from the recent plebiscite are aimed to generate ungovernability to take advantage with a view to the presidential elections of 2018, as part of a political-electoral strategy.
We must come with a solution for the end of the year, we can not fall into the realm of tactics the enemies of peace are raising, insisted Alape.
On September 26, President Juan Manuel Santos and the leader of the FARC-EP, Timoleon Jimenez, signed in Cartagena de Indias the so-called Final Agreement, the result of nearly four years of talks in Cuba, in which they pledged to end the long conflict between the two sides.
