Brasilia_ Eight trade union centers in Brazil called for a general strike in rejection of the measures announced by the interim government of Michel Temer, Radio Habana Cuba reports.

The capital of this country dawned today without public transport service and several roads were blocked, according to information given by teleSUR’s correspondent Adriana Robreño.

The Central Workers 'Union (CUT), the General Confederation of Brazilian Workers (CGTB) and the Brazilian Workers' Confederation (CTB) are on the list of organizations promoting the national strike against the neoliberal policies of the current Executive .

The Secretary General of the CUT, Sergio Nobre, denounced the government intention to reduce wages, privatize companies and services, deliver the country's wealth to multinationals and drastically reduce investments in key public areas such as education and health.

The CUT insists on the need to find ways to confront and prevent the implementation of the agenda of Temer’s government, contrary to the interests of the poorest sectors.

The strike on this Friday takes place one day after the beginning of a campaign to defend democracy in Brazil and in support of former President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva.

Leaders of social movements, trade unions and political parties launched this call on November 10 in defense of the right of law in a country, which witnessed a parliamentary coup last August against constitutional leader Dilma Rousseff.
